Prugh Six for Six in Cuts Made |

Friday, 05 March 2010 |
Alex Prugh recorded a very disappointing three-over-par 73 in the second round of the Honda Classic at PGA National today. But thanks to a great 68 in round one, the 25-year-old from Spokane still made his six straight cut on the PGA Tour. Prugh was even-par for the day and still two-under for the tournament when he reached the 179-yard 15th, the first of the treacherous 'Bear Trap' holes. Despite fairly still conditions, the field averaged 3.35 strokes there today, and Prugh could do no better than five, the result of an ugly tee shot that plunged into the pond well short of the putting surface, a drop, a pitch to five feet and a shocking first putt that traveled four feet past the hole. He then bogeyed the Par 5 closing hole to be home in 38. Currently tied for 39th, Prugh is nine shots behind Camilo Villegas and Anthony Kim who share the lead heading into the weekend. Prugh tees off in round three with Chris Riley at 10.24am local time. Fred Couples is tied for fourth after the first round of the Toshiba Classic at Newport Beach CC in California. Couples shot a five-under 66 to end the day a shot behind co-leaders Bob Tway, Mark Wiebe and Chien-Soon Lu of Taiwan. |
