Prugh Seeking Third Top Five in a Row
Sunday, 07 February 2010
On another weather-shortened day at the Northern Trust Open in Pacific Palisades, Calif, Alex Prugh jumped into the top ten with a fine bogey-free 66 that put him on 206, -7 through 54 holes.
Currently tied for eighth, seven shots behind leader Steve Stricker who had played only 15 holes before the round was called due to poor light, Prugh birdied three holes on the front nine and two on the back, the last of them coming at the 590-yard 17th where he striped a 3-wood approach 275 yards on to the front half of the green and two-putted from 40ft.
Fred Couples had a one-over 72 giving him a three-round total of 213, even par and, at the moment at least, a tie for 47th, while Ryan Moore, who had to wait until the second round finished at 10.49 this morning to see if he'd made the cut - he did, on the number - shot a third round 75 to drop into a tie for 76th.
