Benzel Shoots 77 in First Round at Oakland Hills

Ryan Benzel Despite birdieing three of his first six holes, Mill Creek Head Professional Ryan Benzel finished with a seven-over 77 in the first round of the 90th PGA Championship at Oakland Hills CC in Bloomfield Township, MI. Playing alongside Texan, Brain Gay, and Australia's Mathew Goggin, Benzel went out in 37 but came back in 40 after double-bogeying the 10th and finishing with four bogies in his last five holes. He currently lies in a tie for 110th place with a lot of work to do to make tomorrow's 36-hole cut. Two other Washingtonians are in the field; Fred Couples (76) and Ryan Moore (70).
