Ladenburg named Tourism Visionary Award winner

Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg has been named Tourism Visionary Award winner for his leadership in Chambers Bay's development from a sand and gravel mining operation into a world-class golf course. The award was presented by the Tacoma Regional Convention and Visitor Bureau during its Annual Meeting November 20th at the Museum of Glass.

Tammy Blount, the CVB's executive director, said the award honors an individual whose long-term effort, commitment and trail-blazing accomplishments have set the stage for regional tourism. Chambers Bay has already attracted thousands of visiting golfers from throughout North America and abroad and was named by the United States Golf Association as host site for the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Open championships.
Among its numerous national golf industry awards, Chambers Bay was named Course of the Year by Travel + Leisure Golf magazine.
