Looking to add to its fundraising efforts, the First Tee of Snohomish County held a luncheon Wednesday at Everett Country Club where 110 guests were given the opportunity to quiz a panel of local experts on the subject of developing good citizens through the game of golf. The five-man panel, made up of seven-time Champions Tour winner Don Bies; two-time PGA Tour winner Rick Fehr; co-founder of Redbird Sports Jay Turner; former Ping Division II First Team All-American Jarin Todd; and PGA Assistant at the host club Zach Shriver, answered questions for 45 minutes before students enrolled in the First Tee program shared how the Snohomish County chapter has helped them progress not only with the game, but also their social skills. 'We had just the one fundraiser before this; a tournament held every June at Everett Country Club,' says Executive Director Jeff Cornish who founded the chapter with Todd Tibke in 2005. 'We wanted to add a second event and we also plan to get involved in local public schools as the Greater Seattle Chapter has done. We had 390 kids experience the Life Skills Curriculum this summer which was great, but there's always room for more.' |
