Joel Dahmen of Clarkston, Wash. carded an even par 70 in tough conditions at Tumble Creek yesterday to take medalist honors at U.S. Open Local Qualifying. Ryan Benzel, Tze Huang Choo, Mike Roters and Zach Bixler who all shot 71, plus John Wise and Brian Thornton who were involved in a seven-hole playoff for the two remaining spots after sharing sixth place with two others on 72, will join Dahmen at Sectionals in early June.
Cameron Mackenzie was the first to drop out of the playoff after bogeying the first extra hole. At the sixth hole, Wise made birdie to capture the first spot and at the next, Joey Benedetti made bogey while Thornton made par ensuring his place at Emerald Valley GC in Creswell, Ore, on June 2nd.
