Thunderstorms bought the second day of the Sahalee Players Championship to a halt Wednesday afternoon with two groups still to start their third round. In the lead when play was called was Trent Whitekiller, an Oklahoma State University junior who fired a five-under par 67, which included eight birdies, in the morning to finish two rounds at five under following yesterday's level par 72. The 21-year-old had completed ten holes in one under par when the round was suspended in the afternoon, and thus stood at six under for the tournament after 46 holes.
Graham Hill Two back is Graham Hill of Forest, Ontario, who followed an opening 73 with a 69. Hill made it through 12 holes in the afternoon in two under par to stand at four under for the tournament. First round leader, Andrew Landry, double-bogeyed the 18th hole in the morning for a 73 and was two over par through five holes in round three. At -1 he now lies in a tie for fifth, five behind Whitekiller. Top Washingtonian is Derek Berg who followed a 74 in round one with a 71 on Wednesday morning. At even par through nine holes of his third round he currently lies in 11th place, seven behind the leader. UW's Nick Taylor who started the day in second place after an opening 69, fell away in the morning bogeying three of his first six holes and finishing with a 75. Even par through five afternoon holes, he is at level par for the tournament. Play will commence at 8am Thursday in order to complete the third round by late morning. The final round will then start at approximately 11am off both the 1st and 10th tees with the final group scheduled for a 12:30pm start.
