To get there, UW will need to finish among the top ten teams at Gold Mountain in Bremerton despite starting as 21st seeds and having only one player on its team, Zach Bixler, with any experience of the tournament. 'I think we must be the best 21st seed in the history of the NCAA,' Thurmond said

during a press conference at Gold Mountain on Tuesday. 'Just getting here was tough, such is the quality of college golf nowadays. Qualifying for Regionals never used to be that big a deal for us (this will be UW's 13th straight appearance) but this year was different. The University of Arizona has played in 23 straight NCAA Championships, but this year didn't even make it to Regionals. All season long though, we have said that if we could qualify for this week then we'd advance.'
The Washington line-up is:
Zach Bixler, a senior from Richland who shot an 11-under par 60 at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in California last October.

John Wise, a junior from Bellevue who won his first collegiate event in just his third tournament.
Tze-Huang Choo, a freshman from Singapore who has been the top-ranked amateur in Singapore since 2004.
