UW junior Nick Taylor shot a 3-under-par 70 in Sunday's final round at the World Amateur Team Championship being played in Adelaide, Australia, to jump five spots and finish in a tie for second, two shots behind individual winner Rickie Fowler of the US. Taylor, from Abbotsford in British Columbia, shot 282, eight-under-par, over the four rounds (two at Royal Adelaide, two at The Grange) to help his Canadian team finish in a tie for 9th, 20 shots behind Scotland which won the Eisenhower Trophy for the first time. Taylor opened with a level par 73 at the 7,215-yard, Alister Mackenzie-designed Royal Adelaide and followed with rounds of 71 and 68 at The Grange. His closing 70 included an eagle three at the 517-yard 17th and a back nine of 32. Rickie Fowler Fowler, a freshman at Oklahoma State University, struggled to a 75 in the wind on Sunday but could afford to take five at the Par 4 last after both Taylor and Scotland's Callum Macaulay, who finished runner up alongside Taylor, also bogeyed the 72nd hole. UW sophomore Tze Huang Choo, from Singapore, finished tied for 69th after rounds of 72-77-73-79 - 301. |
