Richard Lee of Covington, WA, set the early pace at the 82nd WSGA Men's Amateur Championship, carding an impressive 6-under par 66 on the championship layout of The Links at Moses Pointe in Moses Lake Tuesday.
Lee's round included six birdies and not a single bogey. Only two other players joined him in the 60s; Jarin Todd of Woodinville and Jens Bracht of Lake Forest Park. Todd fired four birdies on the front nine, including three consecutive birdies from the 4th. However, the story of the day perhaps belonged to Bracht who finished his round with six consecutive threes to fjoin Todd on three-under 69. The run consisted of four consecutive birdies from the 13th, a par at the 17th and an eagle at the Par 5 18th. The average score for the field was 78.2. Wednesday's play will begin at 7.30am. At the conclusion of the round, the field will be cut to low 60 and ties.
