Rui Li Rui Li of Kent, WA, successfully defended her title at the 2008 PNGA Junior Girls Amateur Championship Thursday with a 2-up victory over Federal Way's Stacey Blunt at Longview CC. Blunt proved to be Li's toughest opponent of the week as the match went back and forth the entire day. Li, who had not been behind at any point in her previous three matches, lost the first hole of the day and went 2-down when Blunt birdied the 4th. Li then won the 5th and 7th, however, to bring the match back to all-square. They were still all-square on the 17th tee, but Li made a magnificent birdie to head to the last 1-up. A par at the home hole was good enough for another win and the 2-up victory. It was the first time this week Li had been taken past the 14th hole. She joins an impressive list of champions and becomes only the fifth two-time winner and first repeat champion since Molly Cooper in 1992-93.
