Erynne Lee progressed to the semi-final of the US Woman's Amateur Championship at Eugene Country Club, Eugene, OR
Friday with a 4&3 victory over Chelsea Stelzmiller of Placerville, CA. All square after eight holes, Lee won the
next four holes with three pars and a birdie and never looked back. The youngest of the quarterfinalists, Lee said patience was the key to her victory. 'Today I played my own game and stuck to a strategy,' she said. 'I tried
to just stay on the fairways and reach the greens. And if I had a chance to make a birdie, to capitalize on it sometimes.'
Lee will face three-time collegiate national player of the year and last year's US Women's Amateur runner-up
Amanda Blumenhurst in tomorrow's semi-final. Joint medalist Blumenhurst had an easy victory over Carlota Ciganda of
Spain in her quarter-final match and is considered the hot favorite for the title this year. The other semi-final
features two Spaniards and Women's World Amateur Team Championship teammates; 20-year-old Azahara Munoz and 19-year-old Belen Mozo.
