Membership to the Tour entitles players to compete head-to-head against other players at their same skill level. Players are divided amongst six flights based on an initial verifiable USGA Handicap Index®. In order to prevent 'sandbagging' all Tour members are eventually flighted by rounds played exclusively on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour.
Golf Channel Amateur Tour events are generally stroke play and USGA® rules apply. Local Tour schedules consist of both one-day and two-day events. Each event will have a separate entry fee that will vary based on the type of event and host course. Players accumulate 'Order of Merit' points based on their finish in each event. These points will be used for season-ending prizes as well as a method of qualifying for the National Championships. THE 2007 SEATTLE NATIONAL TEAM AT INNISBROOK RESORT IN OCTOBER At each event, the top finishers in all flights receive non-cash prizes. Prizes vary from event to event based on player participation. A percentage of each entry fee is put into a prize pool and then distributed amongst the flights. In order to abide by USGA® rules for amateur status, no single or cumulative prize value will exceed $750.2008 Western Washington Schedule April 6th: The Home Course April 20th: Woodlands Course at Hawks Prairie May 4th: Gold Mountain - Olympic Course May 18th: McCormick Woods June 1st: Washington National June 22nd: Port Ludlow or Suncadia (Mid-Season Championship) July 13th: Links Course @ Hawks Prairie July 27th: Harbour Point Aug. 10th: West Seattle or The Classic Aug. 24th: Loomis Trails Sept. 14th: 36 Hole Tour Championship - Golf Club at Hawks Prairie Woodlands and Links Courses If you would like more information on the national amateur tour check out www.gcatsea.com |
