Seattle's Stephanie Corey shot a superb 1-under par 72 to win the 15th WSGA Women’s Amateur title by six strokes over 36-hole leader Leslie Folsom, Thursday. Corey took advantage of ideal conditions at Sunland Golf and Country Club in Sequim, shooting the low-round of the championship, the only round under par the whole week in fact. She birdied the 3rd, 12th, and 15th holes, and made just two bogies; at the 11th and 14th. Folsom fell back into a tie for the lead with Corey after double-bogeying the 4th hole, then lost it after bogeying the 6th. She wound up with a second consecutive 81 to finish on 235, 16 over par. With a closing 77, Ann Swanson won the Senior title for the third time after fending off a charging Ginny Burkey who closed with a 75. Swanson and Anne Carr of Renton were tied for the lead going into the final round, but it was Burkey who mounted a final day charge with birdies at the 5th,15th and 18th. Swanson, secured her victory with a par putt on the final hole, closing with a 54-hole total of 233.
