Kent Brown of Colville won the 22nd WSGA Senior Men's Amateur Championship at Oakbrook Golf and Country Club Wednesday, recording a 54-hole total of 215, one better than Ed Jonson of Bainbridge Island and two better than Michael Jonson of Seattle. Kent, 60, entered the day two strokes off Jeff Remington's lead at 3-over par 145, but while Remington struggled to a 79, Brown shot a one-under 70 which was just enough to hold off Ed Jonson of Bainbridge Island, who closed with a 69. Michael Jonson of Seattle was third after firing the low round of the championship, a 68. In the inaugural Super Senior Amateur Championship, Troy Wilmoth of Yakima, struggled in the final round but holed a 12-footer on the last to hold off Bruce Richards from Seattle by a stroke. Wilmoth had started the day with a two-stroke leade but a closing six-over 77 bought him back to the pack. Wayne Kaneko joined Richards in second while five-time WSGA Senior Men's Amateur champion and PNGA Hall of Famer John Harbottle, 77, of Lakewood finshied fourth after rounds of 76-74-73.
