Four-time and defending champions, Leslie Folsom and Jane Harris of Rainer Golf and Country Club in Seattle, Wash, carded an opening round 3-under par 70 to hold a two stroke lead going into the final round of the 2008 WSGA Women’s Best-Ball Championship being held at Glendale Country Club in Bellevue, Washington. Two strokes back are Lisa Smego and Robin McClymonds of Olympia, Wash., who carded a 1-under par 72. The 2005 champions, Ann Swanson and Amy Walker of Sand Point CC trail by three strokes after an even par 73...Nine women qualified today at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Wash. to advance to U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying. Erynne Lee of Silverdale, Wash. took medalist honors carding the only round under par with a 1-under par 71 on the 6423 yard, par-72 championship layout. There was a playoff for the seventh, eighth and ninth qualifying spots between Nicole Ferrero of Lodi, California, Jennifer Greggain of Rosedale, British Columbia, Kendra Little of Eugene, Oregon, and Julie Wells, the “Big Break V” contestant from Wilsonville, Oregon. Ferrero, Greggain and Little were victorious in the playoff, filling the remaining three berths. Joining Lee, Ferrero, Greggain and Little at sectional qualifying will be; Amy Eneroth, Jeannine Fiorito, Sue Kim, Katrina Leckovic, Natalia Jiminez and Rebecca Kim. |
